If you had to rank all the foods in the entire world on how they tasted and put them all in order, what would make the top of your list? Peking duck? Lobster? Biscuits and gravy? Circus peanuts? The folks over at CNN have made their own list and we're curious to see if you agree. Did we mention ketchup made the list?
The list is quite diverse and although there are many tasty dishes on the planet, many of the ones chosen seem a bit odd. Surely there has to be a more delicious dish than buttered popcorn? Although it makes the movie and large quantities can be consumed without notice, it seems that other things might come in above it. We've listed a few from the massive run down below, don't forget to check out the list in it's entirety and tell us what you'd add or subtract!
1. Massaman curry, Thailand
2. Neapolitan pizza, Italy
3. Chocolate, Mexico
4. Sushi, Japan
5. Peking Duck, China
45. Chicken rice, Singapore
46. Som tam, Thailand
47. Seafood paella, Spain
48. Potato chips, United States
49. Masala dosa, India
50. Buttered Popcorn, United States

CNN. Dumbing it down for the world's consumers since 1980.
Sheesh CNN, this is one guys favorite foods list they're passing off as a definitive list for the world.
I do love though- USA chips, ketchup and popcorn. Stay classy there, US.
No one can say what is the best tasting thing in the world because no 2 people's tastes are alike. If I put an amazing burger in front of someone from India they would look at me like I was mad, so is that to say its any less tasty? So silly, CNN.
Well, they claimed the hamburger as German...but I'd be curious to see if the German culinary scene pays attention to the burger as much as the American culinary scene does - at all levels of dining!
They missed my pickled eggs.
@HarkinB, lol. My thought exactly.
Also, I'm pretty pissed that they didn't include anything from Russia. We've got TONS of absolutely delicious foods. This is bullshit.
I think that Spanish jamon serrano is WAY better than Italian prosciutto.
Massaman curry as number one? Seriously? That is completely random.
Can somebody make all of these into jelly bean flavors?
Good one HarkinB. I'm surprised this wasn't in USA Today.
this is unbelievably vague and random.
what kind of chips? creamy dill i hope.
black dragon rolls or spicy tuna?
Completely arbitrary. Who's to say the chocolate in Mexico is better than the chocolate in France or Belgium, for example?
LOL @Nerves. They missed my strawberry rhubarb jam, too!
I guess I must be a weird American, seeing as I could live without buttered popcorn and potato chips and be perfectly happy. I mean really, there are so many other foods that are real food and not junk they could have listed.
CNN is the expert on good food. You should see the selection at the CNN Center food court. Wendy's, Dunkin Donuts, Generic Chinese, Taco Bell, Arby's...
I would like to go to a food festival that had all of these things.
jmorri26, I agree. So silly. It's like a 'Most Beautiful People' list - which is so subjective and trendy. Seriously, it's like somebody wanted to show how cool they were by knowing foods from around the world. Embarassing, CNN.
Pff, Valencian Paella does not have seafood. Real Valencian paella from the Albufera is made with three types of beans, rabbit, eel, snails...
Seafood paella (and please NO CHORIZO) is just a variation from somewhere else. But, alas, paella is just "pan" in catalan and the dish actually means "rice on the pan" and admits multiple variations.
I'm surprised to see marzipan as German... I thought German marzipan is an imitation of mediterranean marzipan - typical of Andalucia region, in the south of Spain.
I tried the very rare and expensive "jamon de pata negra", (black Iberian pig) in a dinner with locals in Andalucia, and while my hosts were rolling their eyes in orgasmic delight and I was struggling to get the greasy damned thing down my throat I couldn't help thinking... man, they're wasting this delicacy on me, I simply can't appreciate it. This is an acquired taste and I just... well, hand over the chips will you?
I'm so embarrassed for CNN! Somebody above commented "incredibly vague and random" to which I would add "and pretentious" : who's really tasted everything?
OOOps -- if I'd read all your comments before writing mine, just above, I would have settled for saying "I agree with nomadchicky."
The chicken rice listed under Singapore is nothing to shout about. In fact, why is it listed under Singapore when Malaysia has it too
Good Carolina style pulled pork barbeque would knock at least a couple of those items off the list.
I agree with @Shela...chicken rice (and really any food) is better in M'sia.
What an awesome piece of investigative reporting...
Yes, CNN conintues to be idiotic.
Aside from how dumb this topic is, how do chocolate chip cookies not make the list??
What about noodle soup? I would swim in it if I could. And kimchi? huh?
I think we should vote on our OWN top 50!
I love all the dee-lish commentary following the post... ha ha ha!
Very odd. I thought it was going to be "food" food, aka San Marzano tomatoes, olives, padron peppers....instead its potato chips. I mean I do love a good bag of chips every now and then but they're not the BEST tasting things in the world.
Kebab as Iranian?? Must be a huge joke going on in CNN! It's from Turkey and everyone knows it (and it's not the best food in Turkey at all!) What about Parmegano cheese or Bree from France? Why there are no Russian dishes as someone said above? This is a list of fried and dipped into oil type of food! Popcorns make the list, ketchup make the list and not Balsamic vinegar of Modena? Or at least tell me why it's so American!
I have to agree with the popcorn as long as they aren't talking about microwaved. Nothing is better than popcorn cooked in a pot with a little coconut oil, then topped with hot melted butter, salt, pepper, and Parmesan cheese. I can cook pretty much anything and that is one of life's greatest pleasures to me.
I LOVE that they included a few approachable foods.
Wow, this is terrible. Ketchup isn't even a food, it's a condiment. It's not like people just pick up a bottle and drink it. *shudder*
chip and buttered popcorn! nooooooo!
