As we enter a month of parties and holiday affairs, it's helpful to have a go-to hostess gift you can pick up at the last moment. If your friends or family like bubbly (and let's face it — most people do), then you can't go wrong with this lovely and affordable bottle of sparkling wine.

We've written about this before; Mary Gorman-McAdams, our previous wine writer, is an expert in Champagne (she wrote her Masters of Wine thesis on the topic) and she adores this affordable bubbly. Her post title says it all:

I love it too; this is a great go-to bottle when I want to take a classy gift to a party or a meal. Crisp, toasty, and full, it blows lesser Proseccos and Cavas out of the water, and holds up well to many French Champagnes. Drink it with everything.

If you need a non-alcohol answer to a host gift, however, be sure to check out last year's list of great gifts to pick up on a last-minute run to the grocery store.
