For the past few years I've been in charge of baking the bread for my family's Thanksgiving dinner. My sister usually hosts, but we all split cooking responsibilities, and bread has always been my thing. Due to popular request, I haven't strayed too far from a basic Parker House roll recipe (great for gravy dipping, even better for leftover sandwiches), but I'm really feeling the desire to switch it up this year. These buttermilk biscuits look delicious, and I can't wait to make them.
This recipe, courtesy of Bon Appetit, calls for a touch of cornmeal which, along with a little peppery kick, make them just right for a Thanksgiving meal - or any meal really!

These look great! We have a local bakery that makes biscuits with green onions, black pepper, and cheddar that are just amazing. And the leftovers--should you happen to have any left over after Thanksgiving!--make the best egg sandwiches ever. :)
I recognized the recipe those biscuits are from immediately, before even reading the rest of the piece. Those are the BEST and are definitely my go-to biscuits (especially for breakfast with eggs and bacon, but I'm sure they'd be good at a Thanksgiving table too).
I just tried making biscuits for the first time using the Food Network recipe - but they were really good! I would love to try a more savory blend as well! Mine turned out good, though, and were definitely a crowd pleaser! http://honeywithoutflowers.blogspot.com/2012/11/get-up-and-make-this-southern-breakfast.html
