As many folks can attest to, specialty glassware, specifically those with stems, don't do so well in the dishwasher. The jets tent to rock them like a hurricane and although hand washing is an option, it's not always a pleasant one. Instead, a new product aims at giving you a hand up while keeping your glassware tethered down.
Quite often the best inventions are those that are the most simple. This one will be put into production when pre-orders reach 1,000 and will come in a set of 4. Each one attaches to your glassware and dishwasher rack both. Check out the video above for a better visual of how things hook up.

I've always found that if you just place the glasses at an angle, tilting the stems back between 2 prongs, but not horizontal, it does just fine. The angle lets the spray in, but keeps them from tipping over. And it's free.
Our dishwasher has built in stemware clips on the sides of the top rack but I still can't bring myself to put them in there! My husband begs to wash them fast and easy in the dishwasher but I know the minute I do I'll open it up to broken Reidel glasses.
Many models of dishwashers come with extra rack attachments that hold stemware securely. Even though my new dishwasher didn't come with that option, I was able to buy the pieces from an appliance parts place for about $3. It works great even though it's designed for a different brand of dishwasher and it folds out of the way when I don't need it. No more little plastic parts to get lost in my junk drawer.
I like embryoconcepts' suggestion and it comes with the added bonus that a little puddle of water won't form in the small divot on the bottom of the stem.
Yes, leepert- hate the pooled water in glasses. I think those tethers are sort of clever, but at $12.99 for only 4, it seems a little pricey. Plus, in the time I'd spend fooling with it to get the glass in place, I could just wash it by hand.
I find it ridiculous that this post got me to make an account so I could comment. But, while this product is interesting and probably does what it's designed to do - I have never personally put any fine stemware in the dishwasher. I have to agree with The Sweetest, I can just wash it by hand.
seriously?
you have time to plug on this silly rubber thing that has no other purpose but you dont have time to hand wash your glasses?
Consumerism at its worst.
This is the only negative commment Ive ever left here, but seriously what a pointless product destined for landfil.
