As cute as that planter thing is, it would have to be absolutely enormous to let the herbs get big enough to use. Not enough space for roots, if it's the size I think it is.
I think the size is very suitable for compact herb verities. Ask at the garden section of any home department store and they should be able to point you to the right ones. This design is Quirky indeed, but I don't see any problems with the volume for the roots of most cooking herbs!
Good work on rethinking a age old product. I'm committed to buying one!
