For some, fall means football. And for many, football means tailgating. And then there are those of us who don't care all that much about tailgating, but care a lot about homemade snacks.
So then, this time of year is pretty much a win-win for everyone. The trick about tailgating snacks is that they should be relatively easy and delicious with little necessary on-site preparation. That's why chips and dip tend to be a staple. So we looked through our archives and found a few of our favorite dip recipes along with some from around the web that we're excited to try.
From The Kitchn's Archives:

Straw Mat from The ...

In the interests of not turning into a blimp, I had consigned that awesome smoky corn and jalapeno dip to the 4th of July. I may have to watch a football game just to excuse the dip.
Hands down, my most popular (and grossest looking--my friends call it "Cat Food Dip") dip is 2 packages of cream cheese + one can chili + shredded cheddar. Mix it up, bake till bubbly, top with green onions to give the illusion of healthiness, and be amazed when you stick it in your mouth.
bummer! I saw BLT dip listed and was like "Oh that sounds GOOD!" but when I clicked it it's far form dip...it's a small salad! I don't think you can call it dip when the smallest thing in it is the size of a quarter. Still looks like a yummy salad though ;)

@jmorri26, re: BLT dip, just chop it up smaller. I think it sounds super delicious and so easy.
by the way, this whole post is totally making my mouth water.
Thanks for that link, getthebubbles - I'll be making that one sometime soon.
what is the dip in the picture? it looks so good!!!
Getthebubbles, that's my go-to dip when I need to take a dish somewhere. It's ridiculously easy and always gets raves.
It's a Crab-artichoke dip with no recipe! But that's the picture that looks the best!!!!!!!!!
I love this Smoked Cheddar Ale Dip with granny smith apple slices and/or kettle potato chips. Oh baby.

I too am lusting for the dip in the picture. Bummer that they show us something so amazingly good looking, and then don't provide a recipe. Guess I'll have to look elsewhere for a Crab-Artichoke dip.
The Frank's Red Hot buffalo chicken dip is awesome, but you have to be really careful you don't eat too much or, umm...well nevermind...
Also, I was disappointed that the dip in the picture wasn't one of the featured recipes. It looks good!
