Stéphane Clivier and Didier Lachaizehe -- the Toulouse-based design duo behind Reine Mère (Queen Mother) -- create what they call "practical and poetic objects" for the home, like this egg cup that could also work as a sushi plate, with a built-in soy sauce bowl. Made in France, their collection of wood and porcelain objects have a pared-down elegance and a modern but timeless aesthetic that they describe as "chic & écologique."

This knife rest with a built-in vase would also work as a chopsticks rest on a minimalist table.

The "12 Pommes" fruit basket looks great with oranges, too.

And the "Room Service" platter with a built-in coaster and Duralex glass, makes a coffee break for one more appealing.

to me it looks a bit like a dog bowl...
I think these pieces are beautiful. But how do US residents get hold of them???
Ricestein,
For the moment they are sold in Europe and Japan. But you can contact the designers directly to find out about international shipping: contact@reinemere.com
The knife rest and fruit basket please me the most. And if I order room service, I will get at least one Duralex glass :-)
