My "kitchen" and "dining area" consists of a corner and a table, but I do change up the runner on the table seasonally (the cable box/dvd player live on the other half so I can't use a full tablecloth. Maybe a little nerdy, but I have decor for all four seasons and also the holidays. For spring I have a white runner hand embroidered with pink flowers, and lavender dishes.
