Apart from the gas/electric question, placement is perhaps the biggest factor to consider when choosing a new oven. We've used both freestanding stove/oven units, and standalone wall ovens. Which do you have, and which do you prefer?
I've used both, but my last two rental homes have had wall ovens. (Tiny wall ovens, I'd like to point out!) I do like having the oven separate, as it keeps the stove area cooler; I hate those blasts of steam and heat that come out right when you're standing stirring a pot. Also, in my current home I have a gas stovetop and an electric wall oven, which I feel is a great combination.
What about you?

I've had both and greatly prefer in the wall....mostly because then if I am working with something on the stove, I'm not baking in front of the oven!
My father's house has an electric wall oven, and it's always felt like it was installed just a bit too high for me (my mother is a taller lady, I am not).
Now I have a gas range/oven and that is pretty swell.
I grew up in a house with a wall oven, and haven't had one since, to my great unhappiness. Mostly because I've burned myself several times on pots that are sitting on the stove top but heat up from the back vent of the oven.
Neither!

It won't let me answer, even though I'm logged in, but my answer is in the wall. I recently moved into a house with a wall oven, and I'm never going back to under the stove!
I have a wall oven and if I could only have 1 oven I'd prefer one under the range. Our wall oven is smaller than a standard oven, I can't fit 2 9x13 pans side by side, or a jelly roll pan, or a broiler pan, etc.
I yearn for the day I can have a wall oven... I'm on the tall side and really dislike having to bend down to check the oven. Lazy? Yes, but also just annoying. :)
On a separate note - does anyone have the double oven range like the one pictured above? Not necessarily that brand, but that style - small oven on top of larger one. If so, thoughts/reviews/recommendations?
I want the duel fuel version since I like to cook with gas, but bake with electric (which brings us back to the gas vs. electric discussion!).
Neither. I have two separate ovens that are under the counter, and not under the cooktop. We didn't have wall space for wall ovens, and weren't planning on a stand alone stove.
I grew up in a house with double wall ovens and loved them. My own house has a standard combo stove/oven. The double wall ovens are nice for when you are cooking for holiday dinners, but otherwise, they're not really all that necessary. My mother uses the bottom one as storage most of the time.
My toaster oven comes in handy for the rare times when I need to bake two things at once.
We're changing over from a wall mount oven and cooktop to a all-in-one stove. I didn't want to do it, but in a kitchen that's only 7'x9', I WANTED those 30 inches of counterspace back!
I have had both too and I really liked the wall oven but, like Liz, I would have liked more counter space in the apartment with the wall oven. Clearly I just need a huge a huge kitchen AND a wall oven ;)
