It's been a fun and interesting year so far, here at The Kitchen, and we are busy plotting new things for spring. We have been looking forward to launching a weekly email on a sign-up basis, like our sister home sites; this might include a digest of hot topics on the blog, fresh recipes, sales, links and more.
So we wanted to check in with you and ask, what would make a weekly email on all things cooking and kitchen-related useful to you? Are you interested?

If the email newsletter had something different in it then what is in the blog, that would be good. Otherwise I would just be re-reading what I already did. It wouldn't have to be completely different, maybe just one or two things added to it.
Agreed-- only new content would make an email worthwhile. But more recipes, links, reviews of cookbooks, etc, are always welcome.
Ditto on all the above-- recipes, sales, sample sales, maybe bonus restaurant, store reviews? Maybe spotlight on a chef, or a food item we can all try and then discuss the following week?
Hmmm, not clear why you would expend effort to put additional stuff in a weekly newsletter when that content would/could enhance the existing site. It's easy enough to subscribe to The Kitchen for updates. Not sure I'd want to subscribe and get emails. But I don't know anything about this. Is it better for you as a site to have email subscribers instead of people using rss?
I love the site, and look forward to reading it everyday, but my email situation is so overwhelming that I just can't invite anything new. It's hard enough getting through the spam and emails that need to be responded to, that I worry that a newsletter would sit sadly unopened in my inbox.
But more content on the site itself, and I would eagerly read it.
i prefer to come to the site for the info when i'm ready to sit down and read it--for me, email is only for things that need to be read and then filed, replied to, or deleted immediately. otherwise it gets out of control.
ah, a victim of the modern age.
but i love the site and check it often. the new content would not go unappreciated if it went on the site.
I would rather see the information on the blog - it's way more convenient for me to check the rss feeds than to have more email coming in. And I'd hate to think I was missing out on stuff that was in the emails!
I'm reading your site frequently but don't like email newsletters.
I getting updates by RSS and check the sites if I am looking for something special.

I think it could be beneficial to split up date-sensitive things like events and like, the weekly roundup of articles. I often goes days at a time not getting a chance to visit the site, but end up kicking myself for missing an event, so it'd be cool to get that in my email.
but keeping most of the stuff on the site is important, for the sake of user comments.
I prefer getting information on the site, when I have the time, my email accounts are overloaded and I'm about to go on a total technology strike just to get some balance back...
