What challenge have you overcome in your kitchen? Living in a loft has fantastic advantages — large spaces, natural light, and the serenity that comes with spacial openness. We wanted to find a way to achieve a palpable, separate kitchen space without the use of curtains, room dividers or other compartmentalization devices. The industrial-work-table-turned-island anchors the "room", and the storage on the wall facing the appliances identifies it as a functional kitchen, despite the fact that it is essentially one wall in a single contiguous space.

What's the story of your kitchen?
Our kitchen has great attributes: new applicances, open space, and high-vaulted ceilings. Unfortunately, these characteristics also translate to being stark and cold. Essentially, our goal was to create a warm atmosphere but also carry through the airy quality of our loft.
What is your favorite meal to cook here?
Chicken pot pie is a favorite for us. It’s a dish that takes up the entire breadth of our kitchen and offers rustic aromas that fill up our home and the hallways (the neighbors haven’t complained yet!). All and all, it satifies and leaves a week’s worth of leftovers!
