We've seen many times what a little paint can do for tired, shabby cabinets—and this electric yellow certainly lifts the mood. But it wasn't exactly what the homeowners expected. Read on for the details (and the decor deal they scored at the dollar store).
The owners of this Greensboro, North Carolina, home had to tackle pink, sponge-painted cabinets—yikes. They chose a bright green paint that ended up looking more yellow, a "happy accident," they say.
And those floor "tiles"? Stick-on squares from the dollar store! We can't imagine the precision it took to line them up perfectly, but what a great-looking result.

hey now! There's a cat on the counter!
Love the yellow, so refreshing. and CHEAP!
I think the cabinets would burn my retinas as I cook meals in that kitchen.
I suspect that it's the same greenish yellow that is in my guest bathroom. I personally don't care for it and keep meaning to change the walls to a fresh spring green.
OMG! I would run screaming from that environment! Hideous!
wow. haters. i like it. all of it. including the cat on the counter : )
Lovely. I adore this kitchen.
While the yellow isn't something with what I would like to live with myself it is certainly cheerfull and cute (and of course I am not living there, so) . The stick on tiles seem like a nice cheap solution too. Congrats!
LOVE it. The yellow is so bright and cheery in what otherwise would be a plain white kitchen. It's amazing how a little paint can completely change the whole feel of a room.
LOVE it!
Not sure if I'd choose it for a full-time house (I'm a bit more mellow than neon!), though it'd be perfect for a cabin! :-)
love it.
my "someday house" will have a bright yellow kitchen. it's been my dream for years.
Wow, I must have looked at this picture a dozen times before I noticed the cat walking around on the countertop, just nasty!!! I'd never allow my cat to walk where I prepare my food. Anyway, I like the kitchen but that particular yellow is too electric for my taste. Nice job though.
I love it, I don't think the yellow is too bright at all. As for the cat, what do you think cats get up too when you're not home? If your cat has free reign of your house then I'm betting it spends some time on the counters. Wondering how those floor tiles will hold up though. Knowing me, if it was my kitchen they'd be peeling up in no time.
Wow. I really like that color, but it does have sort of an eye-searing quality to it that prevents me from thinking that it's practical. Also I actually had that stick tile flooring in my kitchen when I first bought it, and it was the very first thing I had to redo. Seriously, it's cute new, but my only experience with it was when it has been stained to all heck and peeling back in areas. The worst part is that the previous owner of the house said he had only installed it a year ago. Re: the cat - bad kitteh! I have a free house roaming cat that was 5 when I got him, and I was still able to train him to stay off the counters. It's not as hard as people think.
I like the idea of a bright kitchen but this would be a little too neon for my taste. I appreciate when someone does any remodeling job on the thrifty side so good for them! As for the cat being on the counter I am siding with the gross factor. I mean their paws are walking in their poop and urine at some point during the day and to think nothing adheres to their pads on the paws is naive. I have a 6 year old cat that never gets up on the counter and has no interest to do so.
