Watermelons seem to be everywhere these days and while there's certainly nothing wrong with eating the quintessential summer fruit slice by slice until it disappears, a slushy cocktail is a darn fine way to cool off in the dogs days of summer. Watermelon cocktails are nice because you don't generally need to add much sugar. The melon is naturally so sweet and has a texture that lends itself perfectly to a slushy drink that will beckon you out onto the deck, porch, grass, stoop or neighborhood park. There's no excuse now. Labor Day may be slowly approaching, but we've found five easy ways to fight that: Try a Recipe:Watermelon Ginger Refresher - Eat Make Read • Watermelon Sangria - Food and Wine • Basil Watermelon Caipirinha - No Recipes • Vodka and Watermelon Cooler - Dine and Dish • Summer Hoedown - CHOW Related: Watermelon Cucumber Refresher, Straight-Up (Image: Kelly Carambula from Eat Make Read)
