Q: One of my friends is seven weeks pregnant. She's a student who is incredibly busy, and I want to make her some healthy meals that she can freeze and then reheat. Any suggestions? She has no food allergies and no dietary restrictions.

Chili- white bean chicken or red with ground turkey.
You can cook up a big batch of white beans and kale with some smoked sausage or bacon for flavor.
I like to veggie up the pasta sauce in this recipe for turkey sausage ragu from smitten kitchen by adding a can of white beans and some finely chopped carrots- it freezes beautifully..... Just boil up some whole wheat spaghetti and you're done!

I think I just realized that my freezer is full of beans- haha! But they're my definition of something healthy and hearty that freezes well!
What a good friend - already thinking about this stuff! Freezer meals were a godsend when I was in the last stages of my pregnancy (and, of course, during the newborn phase and on the crazy days that have ensued).
Crock Pot meals are great, too. Place all the ingredients (uncooked) in a gallon-size freezer bag, then your friend can just place the ingredients in the Crock Pot in the morning and have a delicious meal ready in the evening; no work. I do this with stew, pot roast, chicken dishes, and like recipes.
Otherwise, for straight-up freezer meals, here are some of my favorites:
* Chili, like the previous poster said. Freezes so great and it's versatile.
* Lasagna, cut and frozen in individual portions
* Lentil soup
* Macaroni and cheese (prepped until right before the point you'd bake it, then frozen)
* Homemade pot pies
* Squash-based soups like pumpkin curry or butternut squash
* Homemade Italian tomato sauce (for topping pasta easily)
I'd suggest labeling each item with what it is, date, and reheating instructions. Meal ideas, like with the chili, would be a cool thing to add too (e.g.: use as baked potato topping, over nachos, blah blah)
Also, after she has the baby, I'd suggest bringing some fresh veggies and fruit too. It can be tough to get out to the store and fresh ingredients can be hard to come by!
Keep in mind that some ingredients- like potatoes- don't freeze well and ask if she can handle spices or if her stomach prefers milder foods right now. Soups and casseroles are ideal, though, and fresh veggies and fruits are definitely good, especially for quick snacking if she needs, as well as being pretty guiltless.

Is it just me or is this question asked EVERY single week.
This is a common question so do a search and you'll find tons of ideas. I like the lamb ragu. It freezes beautifully. Also think about sending her some healthy snacks. The first trimester can be the hardest if she has morning sickness or sensitivity to foods/smells. A nice herbal tea (safe for pregnancy), healthy muffins and a jar of pickles may be a place to start.
I made several freezer crock pot ready meals (I put them in freezer gallon zip bags) for my pregnant friend and a batch of chili, plus some freezer friendly burritos.
Buy a bunch of pryex, and spend a couple days making a zillion chilis, casseroles, etc. Save half for yourself, and then put the other half in containers, label with a sharpie (labels come off with vodka or isopropanol) and send your friend the recipes so she knows what goes with what...that way if certain foods are making her ill, she can make sure there's no garlic in the soup, or corn in the casserole.
