Trust us, we've got nothing against a big slice of uber-rich chocolate cake! But our normal dessert preferences tend to veer toward the not-so-sweet side of things. We love fruit and bright flavors, dark chocolate and interesting spices. If you're like us, here's a round-up of desserts for you!
TOP ROW
1. Lemon Yogurt Cake with Ginger-Thyme Syrup
2. Rosemary-Walnut Brown Butter Cookies
3. Honey and Spice Poached Pears
4. Chocolate Mousse with Olive Oil and Sea Salt
5. Chez Panisse Gingersnaps
BOTTOM ROW
6. Rhubarb Lavender Crumble
7. Frozen Nectarine and Yogurt Pie
8. Sour Cream Raisin Bars
9. Earl Grey Tea Cookies
10. Lemon Spongettes
Do you have a favorite less-sweet dessert?

I really liked these Sage and Apricot Shortbread cookies: http://the-cooking-of-joy.blogspot.com/2009/05/sage-and-apricot-shortbread-cookies.html
What a good idea for a post-right up my street. I want that lemon/yoghurt/ginger cake now! And I hadn't thought to combine rhubarb and lavender-I will try that in my own recipes.
Just to let you know, the rosemary cookie link is broke-it takes you to the lemon yoghurt cake again instead.
I love the olive oil mousse, its really easy to make and is rich enough that a shallow dish is all you need to be satisfied.
Oh my gosh, from someone who is lacking in the sweet tooth department, thank you!!
I love less sweet desserts! Fruit-centric things like pie and galettes and crumbles that focus on the flavor of the fruit instead of adding lots of sugar.
@joyosity: Thank you! My sage and rosemary are thriving, and I've got some apricot preserves waiting for something to come along. Sounds delicious.
i've only made this once but it was amazing.

How did you determine that the above are less sweet? They all seem very sweet to me and would classify as a full dessert...something to watch out for as a person with low sugar tolerance.
Gerat timing! My husband's birthday is next week and these are exactly the kind of things he might like--I think one of those lemon cakes might be in his near future. Honestly, none of them sound super awesome to me, since I like the sweet stuff, so it's great to have recommendations for things you weird non-sweet lovers will really enjoy (lol)!
@lona - I don't think these are meant to be "low sugar" desserts...just less sweet in that they each sound like they have some savory component to them.
great list - I want to try the lemon yogurt cake and the chocolate mousse!
Ditto on great timing! My mom does not love sweets nor chocolate (gasp) so I've been having difficulty meal planning for mother's day. I think I found my inspiration!
