We've been shopping for bar-height stools for a while now and have been eyeing a few adjustable models that can be lowered to table height. Which got me thinking: They could be used in a pinch to seat extra people around the dining table!
Of course, without a back, they wouldn't be the most comfortable seating choice, but would still make a good fill-in when entertaining a crowd. These are a few examples turned up on a search for inspiration for such an arrangement.
Stools at the dining table are a handy arrangement for small-space living, too. When they aren't in use around the table, they can be used as a perch in the living room, bedside tables, or end tables.

I like stools more for counter eating when meal time is quick. I find they aren't the most comfortable solution when sitting around a tap for a leisurely meal with friends. Great quick fix to have around if you don't have enough chairs handy.
Please don't make me sit on something that lacks back support. Too painful.
My back is spasming just looking at these photos!
@ELLABEE my thoughts exactly!!!
Just right for wiggly-bottomed young ones. Or when I need to seat more people than I have chairs.
