It's the last slow, hot month of summer before the autumn begins, and we want to enjoy it as fully as we can. So this month is all about staying cool, here at The Kitchn, and we'll be spending lots of time with our ice cream and cocktails! What do you want to talk about this month? What sorts of cool recipes or tips are you looking for?
We're going to do a couple of theme weeks on ice cream and frozen desserts, and another on cocktails. Then, as we get close to the end of the month, we'll give you lots of back-to-school quick meals and make-ahead lunch ideas.
Meanwhile, have a popsicle, stay cool, and tell us what you'd like to talk about this month.
Stay Cool!

Sounds like a great plan for August! One of the things on our "summer bucket list" with my two little girls is "make homemade ice cream." I know you have a ton of homemade ice cream recipes on here -- I'd love some tips on a good one to start with.
We've been making a lot of fruit popsicles. Here is one of our favorite recipes:

I've been making lots of granitas. They're so easy and refreshing.
We love infusing ice with everything from lemongrass to citrus skin to add a kick of flavor to cool drinks:

On behalf of New York, I'm just wondering: where was all of these "keep cool" posts in July? ;-)
