I got the 7 quart one (in red) 3 months ago and have been using it non-stop since. I bought it when it was on sale around Christmas time for the 59.99 price and I think that it is definitely worth it.

I've been trying to convince myself I don't need one of these, they're really heavy and um the blue is just so pretty and I'd be saving money right?

I LOVE my MS dutch oven!! I have the 7qt in red and it is constantly used. Think: croissant bread pudding... white bean and chorizo soup... butternut squash risotto... omg i love it so much. please get one! and lifting it has sculpted by upper arms... it's a miracle. I would honestly be willing to buy it at full price- how can you pass up the sale of a lifetime?

I don't own any of her Macy's dutch ovens, but I have owned several of her K-Mart ones (the olive green/cream ones). The K-Mart versions were attractive and a good price for my young adult budget (about $50 for a 5qt round dutch oven). However, after less than a year of use the enamel became crazed (cracked). I was advised to throw it out because you don't want the raw iron coming into contact with your food, and sometimes nasty binders are used to adhere the enamel to the metal.

I eventually went through 3 ovens, all meeting the same fate in the recycle bin after less than a year of use. Finally, I replaced them with the real thing: Le Creuset. They come with a 100yr warranty. I would have been better off if I had bought one of these to begin with.

With that said, I don't know if the Macy's version is any better. I will say check the warranty... my other Marthas just didn't last.

We recently bought the large red version for about the same price and love it. One caveat, the handle is plastic, so for high-heat cooking (no-knead bread for instance) I just unscrew it and stuff a piece of tin foil in the hole. Makes getting the hot lid off slightly difficult, but still a great piece for the price!

I have the larger blue one and I love it. It's perfect for no-knead bread.

Oh my god! I have been wanting a dutch oven for a long time now. I always thought that they were too expensive.

i have the large red one too. i bought it on sale a few months ago for $50. it's beautiful and i love it. haven't tried putting in the oven yet, but it's great for soup and stews. just keep the heat on medium to low like the directions say. my mom put it on high and some of the red enamel flaked off the bottom!

My mom got a Macy's Martha dutch oven because she's heard me raving so much about no-knead bread. But when she read the manual that came with the oven, it said something like no dry cooking, which lead her to believe that using it to bake bread was a no no. For those of you who own one, what's the deal with that? Was she mistaken?

I have had the blue dutch oven for several months. I think it is a great deal, especially compared to other brands (le creuset- really expensive!). My only complaint is that the enamel finish has chipped off, and I am very careful with my cookware, maybe it is not the best quality of enameled case iron?

thank you so much for this post! i went to macy's this weekend, and my boyfriend and i bought THREE dutch ovens (one for me, in red; one for my mom, in red; one for his mom, in blue) and one of martha stewart's pre-seasoned cast iron skillets. as we walked out of the store with four very heavy cast-iron cooking tools, a woman said, "you must have gotten a great deal!" ;) i cannot wait to try out the dutch oven... no-knead bread will be my first recipe!

I bought the red dutch oven about 8 months ago. I really like it a lot. Even though I used several thicknesses of aluminum foil to cover it in the oven, the black knob on the lid broke off and the screw broke also. I want to find somewhere to have it repaired, but have had no luck in finding a welder. I live in Burbank CA.
Can any one help?
