There's something about the longer days of spring that inspire us to start new projects, clean out closets, and pursue new interests. And this week, that has everything to do with creating a little garden of our own.
Bon Appetit recently published a sweet little slideshow on 6 Fun Steps to a Home Vegetable Garden and we were instantly inspired. In it are everything from products and tools to books and seeds. Some of our favorites were the great galvanized steel watering can, and a ready-to-grow kit for the newbie gardener. There are photos along with links to purchase each item.
And while this was a great start, we found ourselves wanting to know more nuts & bolts &mdash more about how to actually create little kitchen gardens at home.

Nice. That's what's up. Growing your own food is so rewarding. Where is this all going to be planted?
starting plants from seed can be very rewarding and easy but also CHEAP. I use to buy nursery plants and I would spend upwards $100+ for about 30 seedlings. This year I spent only $50 on seeds and seed starting material, which will yield about 250 plants. Im saving money on my plants plus all the extras make great gifts for friends and family, and whatever is leftover to the neighbors.
