Spray on the Caffeine! Is Sprayable Energy an Alternative to Coffee?

Pin it button big

Instead of drinking a cup of coffee in the morning, how about spraying caffeine on like you would perfume? 21-year-old tech fellow Ben Yu has partnered up with a 33-year-old former venture capitalist Deven Soni to create a coffee alternative that you apply directly to your skin.

The active ingredient in the spray is caffeine, and it is paired with an amino acid that allows the caffeine to be absorbed in the skin. Because the product is absorbed through the skin, it apparently delivers less of a jolt while still waking you up. It is recommended that you spray the energy on your neck about 2 to 4 times for it to work, and that you shouldn't spray it more than 20 times throughout the day.

The patent-pending spray should be available by the end of the year. One bottle has 160 sprays (more than 40 doses) and will cost $15.

What do you think? Would this replace everyone's favorite caffeine delivery system — a good cup of coffee?
