The biannual Fancy Food Show is a food-lover's dream come true. There are thousands upon thousands of different products to taste from all over the world. There's the good, the bad, and the downright delicious, and then there's the product that makes us stop in our tracks and question our beliefs.

This year our food editor-at-large, Christine Gallary, had a chance to roam the aisles of Winter Fancy Food, where she stumbled upon Girl Scout cookie-flavored gum. Now, I love Girl Scout cookies and I assume you probably do too (I mean, who can resist Thin Mints?), but I'm just not sure how I feel about this gum. Have you tried it?

This new gum comes on the heels of another big Girl Scout cookie initiative this year: the addition of two s'mores cookies to the cookie roster. Both the gum and the s'mores cookies are part of a 100th-year celebration of the Girl Scouts selling cookies. Who knows what else will be in store!

According to Refinery29, the Girl Scouts partnered with Project 7 to make this limited-edition gum. The gum comes in two flavors: Caramel Coconut (Samoas or Caramel deLites) and Thin Mints.

Christine had the opportunity to try the Caramel Coconut gum, and here's what she thought.

I tried the Caramel Coconut, meant to taste like Girl Scout Samoas, and was pleasantly surprised that it did indeed taste like chocolate and caramelized coconut. While it was definitely sweet, what I missed was the buttery flavor that comes from the actual cookie. This gum is not going to freshen your mouth by any means, but it just might keep you from actually devouring a box of real cookies.

There's something about chewing gum tasting like a cookie that just seems downright cruel to me. If I wanted something that tasted like a cookie, then maybe I'd just go ahead and eat the cookie if I could? Why would you want the airless, less satisfying version of a cookie? Have we gone too far in our Girl Scout cookie obsession that we needed to create a gum? Then again, Christine did say it was pretty delicious, so I'm just not sure.
