Granola is not difficult to pull off. In fact, in many ways it's hard to mess up. You've got your oats, nuts of preference, favorite sweetener. But over the past few weeks, we've been noticing some great savory granola on the horizon. And we like what we see (and taste).
Just take a quick stroll down the cereal aisle at your local grocery store, and you'll notice dozens and dozens of granolas to choose from &mdash from gluten-free, low-fat, and protein-packed. The list goes on and on. But the recipes below may give you reason to keep on walking and take a stab at one of the savory recipes that are exciting us these days.

How interesting! I bet that a savory curry granola, with some oats, roasted garbanzo beans, dried apricots, and something else (maybe some freeze-dried green beans?) would be a *delicious* afternoon snack!
Loving these recipes.
Wow, when I saw the headline of this post, I was going to mention the Olive Oil and Pistachio granola that is linked to. That's my favorite go-to granola!
This is one of those posts where I think "why in the world did I not think of that?" Very great idea - thanks!
i make a savory granola by mixing rolled oats and Trader Joe's Lime and Chile Mixed Nuts.
The ratio of sweet to grains in all of those is higher than I use for our granola. Was hoping to find a low sugar (honey, maple syrup, etc) version.
For an afternoon snack, look at Indian Chaat. I've seen interesting bags of crunchy, spicy snacks, but haven't made it.
Great to see more savory granola ideas!
@ts, I agree, I would love to reduce the sugar in my savory pumpkin curry granola bars, but I'm not sure how to get them to stick together without at least some brown rice syrup. It definitely deserves more experimenting!
I must be misunderstanding the meaning of "savory." Every one of those recipes calls for sweetener, which is not something I'd add to a savory dish.
