I had a lavender cake about a year ago and since then I've been obsessed with trying it in more and more recipes. Everything has been sweet though, which does goes well with the lavender. I'm still trying to find a culinary use that isn't sweet though. Ideas?

RobertGeistlinger - have you tried cooking with herbs de provence? I use it all the time in savory cooking and the lavender flavor really comes through. Soups, potatoes, biscuits, eggs, fish. Anything goes!

I made the lavender fleur de sel shortbread this afternoon. OM NOM NOM NOM. I added a tiny bit of lemon zest and found that I had to cut a few minutes off the cooking time.

They worked really well and I'd recommend the recipe. I got my organic food-grade lavender at whole foods (where I work and get a discount. Yessssssssss.)
