they look very cumbersome to use, just too awkward the way they're attached. Ove gloves (and knock offs) aren't cute at all, but it's so easy to grip items with them.

I have this apron. It would be awesome if the mitt part were cut out but as they are it's like using folded cardboard wrapped in a kitchen towel. The only time they were effective is when I heat up the oven and then realize I need to adjust one or both of the shelves.
just no. That part of my apron is always wet from intermittently getting splashed while doing dishes throughout my time cooking. The last thing you want to do is go into the oven with damp mitts or potholders. You will definitely get burned that way.
