Skewering all a bunch of asparagus spears through the thick parts of the stems is so smart. Not only does this keep them from rolling and falling through the grates, but it also makes the spears easier to flip and to transfer on and off the grill. This is also a great idea to apply to other slender vegetables, like baby carrots, spring onions, green beans, and Japanese eggplant.
