We've talked about spice storage many times as it's a hot topic for many. They can prove to be awkward or challenging as they need to be kept cool, yet easy to get to. In this kitchen, a small nook was turned into the perfect spot, putting them on full display.
The most efficient kitchens make great use of unused space, putting every nook and cranny into action holding important things. In this kitchen, it's the spot right behind a door that many of us would have completely overlooked. Sure we might have hung a calendar or artwork there, but would you have thought to turn it into spice storage?
Labels were made for those pretty tall containers and they are sealed to the jar with small pieces of contact paper, allowing the jars to get wiped down from cooking messes or splatters. It's a good reminder to take a look at your own space and to recognize even the smallest, mundane areas and see them as potential storage spots!

But just as they need to be kept cool, they need to be kept dark. This is pretty, but those spices won't last long at all.
Luved the way spices have been kept
Love the brackets!
Thanks for your compliments on the look. I did consider light when I hung this rack. It is not as dark as a drawer would be - no hanging rack is - but I chose a spot in my kitchen where there is no direct light, in order to preserve the spices. The picture is bright because I needed the photograph to look good. The trade off is that the spices are very accessible. My house was built in 1929 and lacks all the drawers and conveniences of a house of modern design. This kitchen was used by the housekeeper back then, and the owners did not care about a large kitchen.
Creative use of space and very nice looking?
