Jennifer's favorite OTHER entry: My favorite kitchen of the entries in the contest is Morgan's Natural Patterns. It's well done. The use of beautiful warm finishes like the cherry wood, cork floor, and stone top make this kitchen timeless. And it's modern without being cold.

What's the best thing you've ever cooked in this kitchen? The most amazing dish cooked in our kitchen is my mother-in-law's recipe for beef empanadas. See picture attached with my husband cooking.

What is your next improvement (if you could do anything)? We hope to install a tile backsplash soon. We have our eyes on some glass rectangular 1 x 6 tiles green tiles.

I love the handles on the cabinets and may I ask what that backspash is made out of? Also, just to clarify, the cabinets themselves are from Ikea, but the doors are custom? Is that right?

Thanks for your comments. The backsplash is painted. And the cabinets and doors are from Ikea. Three doors needed to be cut including the opening at the microwave, the dishwasher panel, and the door below that. Then white oak veneer tape was used for the edge. Cutting veneer can be difficult as it splits. Our contractor taped the edges before cutting it and it was successful. Ikea does still make oak cabinets doors but they do not carry the oak Nexus doors any longer.
