Sarah's favorite OTHER entry: Yolanda's Bold Orange. I love that a bowl was the inspiration for such a cozy and welcoming kitchen! I think the orange cabinets are fabulous, especially with the b&w counter, and it looks like there is plenty of space to hide cooking gear. Truly, I can envision just the sort of delicious comfort food I love being prepared there - well done!
What's the best thing you've ever cooked in this kitchen? For a certain February holiday, I decided to try making chocolate mousse for the 1st time, and boy was I nervous. Well, much to my surprise, it turned about AMAZINGLY good, not too sweet or cloying, nestled in stemless wine glasses with mounds of freshly whipped cream on top....

Best thing you've cooked, continued ...My boyfriend claimed it was the best he had ever had. Just this once, I had to agree with him ;) I got the recipe from The New Best Recipe from Cooks Illustrated. I lately discovered the lovely blog Orangette (and Molly, the editor), and I have to say, every recipe I've tried thus far from it has been fantastic.
What is your next improvement (if you could do anything)? I'm not allowed to do anything big, but my plans are: get black and white checkered contact paper to line all of the shelves, and get bamboo-ish blinds to replace the horrid white monstrosity that hangs in my window now.

Straw Mat from The ...

The wall color is great...what is it?
so you're saying that on the rare occassion that you agreed with your boyfriend you were right? hmmm, maybe you should agree with him more often.

This is the coolest kitchen ever! I love the color and the black&white tile -- its simply fabulous!! I have to say, this is the coolest smallest kitchen I have ever seen. I really hope you win!!
Dorothy-the wall color is Ben Moore Grape Green =)
Thanks so much for the kind comments, all!
Cheers,
Sarah
Bravo Sarah!
I love your kitchen too.

Wow!!!
You've truly done amazing things with your rental -- the color, the posters, the pottery -- everything is very complimentary. I also like how you've taken advantage of the building's older details (i.e., the black and white tiles) and made them pop. The crisp contrasts really make an appealing kitchen.
Well done!
