Ooh, savory pancakes are my favorite things. I love crepes, socca, injera, roti, tortilla...all of those pancake-into-flatbread meals.
I have a recipe for cheater's chickpea crepes that's a lot easier to work with than traditional socca, and I've filled it with all sorts of things, including chard, pecans and ricotta.
I even invented my own savory pancake, a yeasted semolina version. It's very nice! You make it on a griddle, and it becomes a bit like injera, but crispier on the outside.
I like roll-up bacon and spinach pancakes for dinner. But I'm not yet sure about fluffy ones as a meal. It just seems odd.
Those quinoa cakes sound good. Thanks!
sugar as the first thing in the morning is not good for our health....cool that Kitchn is featuring such posts
I don't like sweets in general and so pancakes are not yummy to me. I always wished there would be a savory pancake. This is awesome.
I feel like I remember hearing that pancakes are generally consumed as a savory dinner food in Australia... That said, I'll take mine plain still!
i have been seriously craving savory pancakes lately.. thank you!
