Kitchen window treatments are a tricky thing, as the room can generate smells and grime that you don't want soaking into fabrics and soft treatments. One idea for kitchen windows is the interior shutter. On that note, here's a little inspiration:
Just think: shutters can be painted to match kitchen cabinetry for continuity. Wiped clean and thrown open or closed even up-to-your-elbows in dough, shutters seem a perfect window treatment to consider for the kitchen.

Martha Concrete Lam...

I like these! Great idea.
Not to be a kill joy, but, I like the look but I have shutter style closet doors and they are horrible to clean. Depending on there these were located in the kitchen I wouldn't want them. I can just think of humid air causing even more dust to stick to them etc. At least curtains can be cleaned by you or sent out.
These are all beautiful and I'd always prefer shutters to curtains but - smell and grime will stay the same and it's much easier to throw some curtains into the washing machine than to clean shutters, isn't it?
That's why outdoor shutters work better, and in victorian england they had indoor shutters, but on the side of the LARGE windows are designed storage space for the sutters to stow in when not in use and the covers look like part of design, this way the shutters stay dustless and clean.
I love shutters for ANY window....love the white plantation-style shutters.
I have plantation-style shutters in my kitchen and I have to say, they're really easy to clean. All you do is close the louvers and wipe down with a damp towel on either side of the shutter.
Way easier than cleaning curtains, and I can do it once every 2 weeks.
I house-sat for a woman who had lovely shutters all through her house, and I thought they were wonderful, especially in the kitchen. So easy to clean, and kept things cool, even in an Alabama summer.
