The Pacific Northwest is a well-known hub for Asian food, and Uwajimaya — with locations in Washington and Oregon — is one of the area's largest Asian grocers.
The store has been in existence since 1928, when it first opened in Seattle. It's now a large, modern chain of supermarkets with departments devoted to produce, fish, meat, groceries, wine & sake. There's also an amazing sushi deli, and the store can be hired to cater an event with a variety of sushi platters.
One of the best things about the store is their weekly special. Each week, they highlight a different country's cuisine with special deals — for example, right now they're in Korean foods week. Look for current deals on prawns, jar oysters, clams, and beef short ribs.
