Small-batch sauces and spices aged in repurposed bourbon barrels.
Bourbon and Vanilla Sorghum, $12 for 8 fl. oz
Bourbon Barrel Foods is a small artisan food company located in Louisville, Kentucky, the heart of bourbon country. But they don't make bourbon; rather, they repurpose bourbon barrels to craft small batches of bourbon-infused gourmet sauces and spices, like Worcestershire and soy sauce, sorghum vinaigrettes, even barrel-smoked paprika and sea salt.
Most ingredients, including the non-GMO soybeans, sorghum, and spring red winter wheat, are sourced from Kentucky farmers, a key part of their company manifesto. With names like Bluegrass Soy Sauce ("smoky and brothy with hints of oak and a mild sweetness reminiscent of fine Kentucky bourbon") and Bourbon Barrel Aged Vanilla ("rich, sweet and aromatic with a bit of southern heritage and charm"), these specialty products would make wonderful gifts for the bourbon-lover in your life.
