Spiral Whisk from Rosle
• $26

I am a whisk fiend! There's one for every job, from tiny skinny whisks for mixing vinaigrettes, to big balloon whisks for scrambling eggs. But one of my favorites is this spiral whisk (also called a sauce whisk). The flat shape helps scrape the bottom of a custard or gravy pot, whisking out every last lump. There are cheaper models, but this Rosle version is solid and handsome.

Ikea makes a $1 mini battery-operated whisk that froths milk like a pro.
Yeah, I have an unpowered Ikea one that came as a pair with a balloon whisk and was $1.99 (couple yrs ago).
@JEANIES - I have the exact same one! The balloon whisk is kinda flimsy, but I have put the sauce whisk through major damage (making sauces, mashing potatoes, "pureeing" soups) and it still holds up just fine. The handle isn't awesome, but for $1 it has recouped its cost many, MANY times over.
I had no idea that this whisk shape had such a defined purpose -- yet another thing to look for in my thrift store searches!
My favorite whisk is a bundle of twigs bought at a Scandinavian shop a very long time ago. It will smooth out a gravy in no time flat. It gets a swish in soapy water and a good rinsing and just keeps on going.
