Reisenthel makes really great European-style shopping bags and totes. I've been eyeing these bags lately - they are designed to sit in a shopping cart. So your items go straight into the cart, onto the conveyor belt, then right back into the cart. Lift the bag right out and you're done. This would be a fabulous bag for those who like to shop at places like Aldi or Costco, where no bags are provided. The bags roll up nice and tight when they're not in use, too.

OMGSH THESE are a dream come true..now,i would tend to think that we might still need our regular cloth bags inside each basket, as they'd be pretty HEAVY for me to carry alone with the shopping amounts we do! STILL,a FANTASTIC FIND! J9;)
Agree with MyContainedLife that they could get a little heavy, but these would be great for places where you can scan your own groceries as well (which is what I do, while I struggle with my floppy canvas bags)
What's so 'European' about these bags? I love them, but I don't see it. Are there also 'American' style bags?
Just wondering.
Love,
A Dutchie
I use a collapsible plastic crate for this same purpose. If you think about the process however, unless you have extra bags to load into, everything comes out of these bags to scan, then gets set aside, then back into the bags after they are emptied, which slows everyone behind you down.
Kim, they're made by Reisenthal, a German company (that's in Europe!). That's why they're "European."
Google is your friend.
I wonder if the bags are washable a report on the local news test show many bags hold bacteria as people just use them over and over and not really think about it
Thank you for this post. The county next door requires consumers to pay for shopping bags and someone stole my friend's totes at the grocery store a few days ago.
@trixiegoodbits. Wherever you shop, items must be removed from a cart or basket, set aside, and then placed into shopping bags. This isn't any more time consuming. If shoppers using reusable bags help bag, as many do, the line will move faster because the cashier isn't bagging.
@Unegen: Thanks, I know Germany is in Europe. The Netherlands (thats's in Europe too!) are right next to Germany, and I'm Dutch. But the article says 'European-STYLE' bags, so I wondered why this style is considered European. I hope it's not just because the company is because that would be the lamest reason I've ever heard.
And Google and I have indeed been besties for evah.
some people may jump on me, but there is a version of these you can find in dollar stores. maybe a tad smaller.
i know in Canada they are at Dollarama.
kim van d, some ppl use words because they think it will sound better.
why not just call them what they are... German.
now that would be too easy LOL ;)
