We talked earlier this week about setting our own kitchen goals for 2013. We love to think of resolutions in the new year as opportunities to look forward to, not obligations to be tackled. By the end of this year I anticipate having made a habit of eating lots more vegetables, for instance. Maybe you're looking forward to learning to bake gluten-free bread. Or you would enjoy having a clean freezer, homemade cheese, or a garden. Maybe you'd love to fix that dripping faucet this week. What's your first kitchen goal or resolution of 2013?
We are inviting you, our readers, to share one short and sweet kitchen goal with us. Send us a photo and a quick description, and we'll publish all of them that we can next week! That way we can all help one another accomplish something fresh and new — maybe even before the week is out! Read on to submit your own goal...

I really want to make bread in Le Creuset. The recipe has been going around for a few years and I think this will be a year I'll finally do it.
Also...brisket! How have I not ever made that yet?
Mine is to put my new Berliner mandoline to use!
Trying to make a concerted effort this year to cook new recipes at a faster rate than I bookmark them. I have always been operating on a significant backlog.
For the last year or so, the boyfriend and I have also been idly talking about trying to brew our own batch of beer. Now that we have a big unfinished basement and a Brew and Grow is opening up down the street there's no room for excuses!
I have years of magazines and cookbooks full of recipes that I've "dogeared." About three ago I bought binders and clear sleeves in hopes of organizing these recipes together so that I can have quick and easy go-to recipes--that I know I will love and want to make.
I was hoping to scan each recipe that's dogeared and make a collection both on the computer *and* in these binders. I like the idea of having them digitally accessible, but I'm more likely to grab the binders spontaneously to create a meal (than go to the computer).
So, this year, I would like to *finally* make this happen...! Especially since I hope to cook more this year!
I'm with @emillie - I have a huge backlog of recipes I've bookmarked but never tried. This year, I want to cook through my recipes binder and toss any recipes that don't work or deserve to be kept.
(This may or may not have been last year's resolution as well)
I basically lived in the kitchen...before having kids! I always made homemade focaccia, biscotti, pasta, ravioli etc. Finding the time now is near impossible! ;-( My goal this year is to TRY and make something special at least once a week...cooking is my outlet for venting, releasing stress and relaxing! Hope I can find the time ;-)
Last year I made my first baguette. This year I want to make goat cheese. Small goals, attainable!
Cheers

Cook more. I read about cooking, and I do cook. Just not as often as I should. My goal is to prepare 90% of all my meals this year at home. Thats up from about 50%(and Im being generous )
My goal is to cook more in advance - baking snacks for the week and taking leftovers to work. We've always eaten light at work but we both need more energy to get through the day now.
Also, more salad as a meal.
well I'm heading to Puerto Rico this week, so my goal will be to make KILLER Pernil and my own sofrito with all the correct ingredients. I'll take pictures of it and my cute little kitchen in PR.
my goal is to learn to love (and use) the kitchen i have. until the kitchen renovations start! yay new kitchen this year!!!
Eat more good food. I tend to focus a little too much on how healthy things are and this year I want to let myself enjoy a cup of coffee with cream and a grapefruit with brown sugar. No guilt!
I want to, no, make that will, learn to can. Little batches of stuff like my mom's apple butter, tomato Florentine soup, things I could freeze but am more likely to eat if I don't have to thaw. Waterbath first, then maybe pressure canning. Already have the equipment bought and waiting...
I have decided this is the year of homemade kombucha.
I also have vowed to unsubscribe to ALL of my junk email. Even the things I signed up for. I'm giving up shopping online, buying groupons, or other vouchers or purchasing anything from Ruelala and the others stores that have spun off from that.
