While a hangover isn't something one tends to invite willingly, some of these international hangover cures from Portland's MIX Magazine sure do present a compelling argument! Shakshouka with poached eggs? Pasta carbonara? There are some perks to over-indulgence, we think. What's your go-to hangover cure?
Of course, a hangover isn't strictly necessary to enjoy a meal like shakshouka. This Israeli dish of spicy stewed tomatoes and poached eggs would taste good just about any time, we think.
We love that the article mentions congee, which has been one of our favorite morning-after remedies for some time. The green smoothie from Brian Heck's food truck might also need a place in our bag of tricks.

Gatorade. Plain and simple. It is designed to rehydrate your body, which the alcohol has dehydrated. It isn't fancy or anything special, but I'm sure to have one in the fridge for the morning after if I'm having a party.
I've also heard of people using pedialite, which does the same thing.
I just have to soak it up with carbs and drink absolute assloads of water. Also, sometimes ice cream helps, which is sort of strange. I think it just temporarily relieves the discomfort, bad taste lingering, and cotton mouth. Ugh, I have on today at work...stupid Super Bowl party :(
I've done Gatorade and Pedialite... but now I've gone a different route. Rather than worrying about having to nurse a hangover the morning after, I now take measures to prevent my hangover. PRE-NATALS. I swear by that stuff. I take it either before I go out for the night or right after I get home. It's loaded with tons of VItamin B ANDD it makes your hair and nails shiny too. And, of course, I make sure to drink plenty of water in between.
When I do get hangovers, I do love fried foods and lots of fatty carbs. Yum.
Cheeseburgers!!
scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, and hot sauce, wrapped in a whole wheat tortilla. toss in some home fries if you have them. learned that one from college - kiva han in pittsburgh has been curing college hangovers for years.
tried and true: menudo, something i've been asking to be written about here for a while.
I agree with gqsmooth: Menudo!
it's deli, but needs to be prepared in advance or have a local mexican restaurant near ;)
Milk thistle! A couple of drops or a capsule before going to bed, and I feel completely fine the next day.
Food-wise, lots of water and no caffeine (or at least not until I've had water only for a few hours). And carbs but not too much oil, or the greasiness eventually makes me queasy.
coconut water!
Poutine!
