We're feeling totally inspired by this gallery of summer drinks from local restaurants published in the Boston Globe. It's time to step up our cocktail game! We also noticed a few interesting trends emerging in these recipes.
Alcohol infusions still seem to be a big thing, though bartenders are getting more and more creative in what ingredients they're choosing to infuse into which alcohols. We've got ginger-infused vermouth at Hungry Mother restaurant and bottles of Lillet being infused with tarragon over at Ten Tables. Fruit-infused rum is also adding a fancy twist to classic drinks like Dark n' Stormies and mojitos. We love the use of fresh, seasonal ingredients to infuse interesting alcohols.
We're also seeing a lot of rare (to us, at least) ingredients being used to create uniquely flavored cocktails. Calamansi juice, anyone? Or maybe some guanabana? Finding some of these ingredients could definitely prove challenging.
