When it's burning up outside, we're not far from wishing we could cool off with the cucumbers inside of the refrigerator. Really fuel those daydreams with a glass-door refrigerator that lets you gaze inside at its cool, comfy contents:
While glass-door refrigerators are often held at arm's length since they require such impeccable organization to look good, we love their clean, sterile look. Plus, the view inside can't hurt when it comes to cooling down on hot summer days!

Energy nightmare, especially if you have a sunny kitchen, but I suppose it would cut down on how long people spend staring into the open door looking for something to eat. Maybe make one with that nifty glass that flips from clear to opaque with a small electric current?
Like glass on cabinet doors, this works ideally if you can keep your areas pretty neat. There are times when I can't, so I wouldn't want this.
I just don't think the contents of an ordinary fridge look that nice.
I would totally do it for a wine fridge or a beverage fridge. But, I really don't want to see bottles of salad dressing. I would start buying groceries based on colour and how pretty the packaging was. lol
Also, I'm assuming that a glass-front fridge means no on-the-door storage, which is so handy for corralling all the condiments!
It looks so great in the picture but wouldn't want it at home. Think it would add too much visual clutter to a very large space in the kitchen.
I would so NOT want this! Who wants to see the contents of your fridge? There is nothing pretty to showcase in a fridge. And how unpractical!
Cool Concept, but I would feel like I had to keep my refrigerator constantly stocked and staged.
We have a glass-fronted wine cellar, but I wouldn't like it for a refrigerator.
I once spent a week at a yoga center, and worked in the kitchen. They had a couple of those sliding glass door refrigerators like you see in grocery stores. It was perfect in that setting, but I don't think I would want one at home. One of my friends said that his parents have a walk-in refrigerator at their house. That would be interesting!
And I would love this. No losing the squash, or the yogurt. Know at a glance if you are nearly out of milk or beer. That's a priority for my husband---not running out of beer!
I think it would keep me honest. You have to eat your leftovers, keep the fridge clean, and buy the prettier things--as fresh veg and juices and homemade foods in glass containers are so much prettier to display than processed foods in plastic containers.
So very sexy! But yes - an energy pig to be sure. Tho @al.roderick's is nifty, it's not the transparency that makes it inefficient - it's the poor thermal resistance of glass (whether clear or opaque). Thanks for the eye candy tho!
Hmm, thanks for explaining @fivealive1969. Does anyone know of an clear/ish energy efficient alternative? I actually sorta kinda like this idea. I have been playing with the idea of metal encased glass doors in my kitchen, I love the lab look. Living alone, it'd be easy for me to switch food from its packaging into pretty containers and keep it organized. Also, I like this idea for kiddie below counter mini-fridges, since I'd generally be stocking it with just water or my own juices mixes inside of individual containers along with whatever snacks I've scheduled for that day. In that context it sounds like a pretty cool idea. But having a big 'ol glass door fridge as a parent seems like an invitation for people to see how messy your kids can make your fridge.
