A movement to improve food in schools is accelerating across the country, fueled by concerns about the nutritional health of children, childhood obesity, and the intrusion of commercially branded foods and beverages into the school environment.
Join the Baum Forum for stories about the challenges, successes and proven strategies for implementing change in the school food environment from pre-k through college, from experts, practitioners and activists. Presentations will include: the latest research, the most current legislation, inspiring local and state policies, new menu items from New York City SchoolFood, effective food, nutrition and gardening-based curricula, tool kits for advocacy, farm to school and college programs, and how to build coalitions for change.
When: Saturday, April 1, 2006, 9:30 A.M. - 6:00 P.M.
Where: The Graduate Center (CUNY), 34th Street and Fifth Avenue, NYC
Registration: $35, including lunch. More info here.

I just registered, thanks for the tip! Looks like Saturday will be quite the culinary tour for me. I'll be following up the Baum Forum by cashing in a Christmas gift certificate at ICE and taking an African cooking course. Does anyone else plan on going to the forum?
