Green walnuts, sour grapes, plums, and much more were seen at the Alemany Farmer's Market last weekend. It's the peak of the season, and the stalls were just bulging with fresh produce of all kinds!
NEW ARRIVALS: Chiles, Armenian cucumbers, eggplant, gourds, squash blossoms, melons
IN SEASON: Stone fruit, assorted Asian greens for soups, squash, blackberries, corn
LAST CHANCE: Strawberries, blueberries, cherries, asparagus
Sour grapes and plums
Fresh walnuts and lufa gourds - let them dry until hard, then peel off the shell and you have your own homemade loofah!

I am so hungry now; those look so good!
I'm thinking those "lufa" are for eating rather than sponging.---I've heard the ones that are for eating aren't really ripe enough to make sponges from, usually you'd get those at the end of the season.

those lufa are for comsuptions; they are young, tender and delicously sweet as soups and saute.
