Sweet & Salty: 5 Ideas for Adding a Pinch of Salt to Fruit

Our love for salting cantaloupe was the jumping-off point for brainstorming more ideas for salted fruit. When we saw Stephanie's post on Gilt Taste's How to Season and Spice Fruit, we knew we had to put a roundup together:

Some say that salt suppresses the bitter taste of foods like grapefruit. Others say it enhances fruit's natural sweetness.

However you put it, it's an essential element in many common ways of eating fruity. It's why we love cheese and fruit platters and one reason peanut butter's so good on apples. It's why we wrap prosciutto around cantaloupe and salt our martini glasses. Any way you slice it, here are a few more ideas for salted fruit:

  4. Sprinkle salt on pineapple and eat raw or grilled.
