- What makes your small kitchen so cool?
- My kitchen has great "inset" cupboard doors with latch hardware, a great layout, a nice nook in the corner for tea or reading, and some fun accessories, like an antique style payphone.
- Describe a challenge you've overcome or a smart resource you've found for your kitchen.
- My kitchen used to be cute (see the "before" pic), but battered and not very functional - there was only one 5-foot stretch of cabinets, and the uppers weren't deep enough to hold a dinner plate. I gutted the whole thing and finished it in a butler's pantry style, with double the counter space. I painted the old wood floors dark brown and the walls a yummy green. Unfortunately the cabinet makers didn't make the microwave nook big enough for the microwave, so I keep baking dishes in there.
- What's your favorite meal to cook here?
- I like to bake (rhubarb muffins, lemon loaf, angel food cake, peanut butter cookies and the list goes on) so I have the main counter space set up with all my baking needs in arm's reach.

love the retro vibe of the green wall and orangey-red chair!
love the color (my kitchen is also green) and all the cabinets. So nice you have a window and a little seating area.
I love this! where are the cabinets from? what material is the counter?
fabulous! please share cabinet source. this is my dream look! well done!
So simple, clean and comfortable. I love the glass cabinet doors and the seating area is adorable.
You did a fantastic job on this renovation. The seating area looks completely different and very inviting.
Nice work! Lovely space.
Thanks for the lovely comments! The cabinets are from a little local custom cabinet shop called "Flexwood Fine Cabinets" in Mississauga. The counters are Caesarstone. The cabinet hardware is from Restoration Hardware.
Great before and after story! In our rental we have your old countertop and believe it or not, even the grey tiles! I hide them with art.
Your new cabinets are wonderful...cool hardware. Nice job!
Those cabinets are beautiful! Great renovation!
Besides the white appliances not quite matching the cabinet colors, it's a well done kitchen, and the pop of green paint is exactly what it needs. It looks relaxing and put-together!
