I have a lot of spatulas — some fancy, some plain. They all do their jobs well (otherwise I wouldn't have them in my kitchen!) — but even so, there is one spatula I reach for over and over again.
The blade of this Rubbermaid Commercial Spatula is extra-big, and extra-stiff. It also is attached nearly seamlessly to the handle. So water and gunk can't get under the blade, and the blade will never pop off unexpectedly in a stiff batch of dough.
When I bought this spatula I bought it mostly for its size; I loved how oversized it was. But then I came to love it for nearly every job — not just the big ones. It's totally reliable, and one of the most handy things in my kitchen. I could write an ode to this spatula! After I scrape a bowl of cookie dough with it, I almost don't have to wash the bowl. It gets it that clean.
So, while I love my other spatulas (Chef'n's spoon spatulas are especially useful and fun) I really couldn't do without this one. For the price, it can't be beat. It's one of the cheapest, most affordable kitchen tools you can buy. For an avid baker or cook, look no more for a last-minute stocking stuffer!

Martha Concrete Lam...

I bought one recently at Gordon Food Service and love it for all those same reasons! I'm only wondering what took me so long. And, if you like your spatulas heat-proof, Rubbermaid makes one of those too (with a great red handle)!
I had one of these.... until my husband broke it. Now I'm after one with a metal handle as it seems those he doesn't break nearly as often....
Sounds awesome! Can you send an email to my boyfriend with the link! ;)
Thanks!! Perfect timing. I just broke my spatula trying to stir melting chocolate.
Anyone remember the comedy advertisement for "Spatula City" - had echo sound effects and claimed to have the best selection in the nation...
Seriously, this one looks like it is not made from the translucent silicone stuff that does not seem to come clean and tends to develop this obnoxious sticky-ness. I'm going for these!
I totally relate to having more than one of something but always seem to reach for the same thing every time.
I have a new wooden spoon but I still go to my old one.
Perfect timing, I need new rubber scrapers since mine all seem to be nicked and grotty. Off to write to Santa...
phoxx, au contrair! The one pictured is the one that gets sticky -- all too soon in my view.
The silicon one comes out of the dishwasher clean as a whistle and is heat resistant to something like 600F.
How much did Rubbermaid pay you to write this?
I can't even imagine shifting from my silicone spatula!
I have the same spatula that I bought at a restaurant supply store a few years ago. I definitely use it the most and it's awesome!
My grandmother got me a kitchen aid hand mixer that came with a freebie silicone spatula. It is, by far, the best spatula I've ever used. The head comes off so you can wash each piece separately so to get all of the gunk out with each use. It is stiff, and the head hugs bowls perfectly.
@twnt1andcounting - nothing.
