What's a hippy kitchen? Is it a kitchen of a particular era, a time, a feeling, a style? Well, you have to see for yourself, at this delightful Tumblr stream.
It's a wordless collection of kitchens, picnic tables, grinning faces, ponytails, sideburns, plaid shirts, and campfires. It's a look back into another time, although we've spotted some rather recent-looking photos in there too. It's terribly addictive; these are the sort of kitchens we grew up in.

God, I have the same the linoleum that's in the first pic in my entryway. Eeesh.
But these aren't hippies -- these are regular folk in the dress of that era . . .
(Shuddering as I think of a photo of me in plaid pants with white vinyl belt and matching white shoes - ugh! No wonder I love mid-c designs and fashion - the peak of american culture. It's been all downhill since!)
I agree with Mid-C Frank, these are 60s/70s kitchens. Cute, but not necessarily hippy.
After looking through a dozen pages or so (what a poorly designed site -- you need to scroll back to the top to advance to the next page) I must admit that some of the photos are of folk who indeed pass as hippies, but it is a minority.
Overall, I don't really get the "theme" or whatever of the site. Some shots are not even in the kitchen (or outside cooking/bbq area, campfire et al).
Yeah, I'll buy the outdoor shots as "hippy kitchens" but the rest are just of the era.
How did Austin Powers make it into that second photo?
I love that special group of people who are always the first to comment, and are always the ones trying to prove the author wrong. SERIOUSLY folks who really cares? If I could completely block out those 'know-it-all' comments I so would. So exhausting! If you think you can blog it better then apply for a job where you can.
