- What makes your small kitchen so cool?
- It was transformed from a small, cramped, galley kitchen that isolated the kitchen user from the family. By opening it up, it has now become a space which includes everyone in the house.
- Describe a challenge you've overcome or a smart resource you've found for your kitchen.
- There were two challenges. First, should we remove a portion of the original dining room built-in to open up the space and second, finding a space for the fridge out of the small kitchen. After living in the space for almost three years we figured both of these challenges out and we went for it.
- What's your favorite meal to cook here?
- Anything that involves the kids. Baking and homemade pizzas are both fun.

Looks incredible!!! I LOVE this kitchen!
So open and serene. Love the glass cabinet doors and mason jars!
Renee,
Even if you don't win this contest, your kitchen is a winner! Love the colors and peaceful look.

I would like to make a sandwich in this kitchen. Lovely!
Very nice! The only thing I *might* do differently is to use some frosted film to do the bottom half of the two kitchen windows with the AC view of the neighbors. Love the colors, style and everything.
Yours is what I wish my tiny, crappy one would look like. My favorite color!

Oh my goodness. I love love this one.
i love your kitchen, renee!
please provide sources for paint, cabinets, counters, etc. also, what kind of vintage stove do you have? how wide is it?
i agree with the frosted film, shutters or top down shades on the lower part of the windows.
The two changes you made are minimal yet grand :) What a smart, functional design and it fits you and your family's lifestyle. I just LOVE that!!
This is my fav so far. Looks so inviting!
Thanks everyone for the wonderful comments!
Here is the sourcing information that was asked for:
The main wall color is Benjamin Moore Wythe Blue.
The cabinets are Muralo waterborne semi-gloss enamel color custom matched to Benjamin Moore's Acadia White.
The trim color is Muralo waterborne enamel satin color paraffin
The walls between the living and dining room are painted with chalkboard paint.
The countertop is Cambria, color is Sussex
The cabinets were custom-made by a local cabinetmaker. They were designed to match the original cabinetry of the kitchen (the built-in with glass fronts is original to the kitchen).
The antique Turkish rug was purchased at an antique store just around the corner from my house.
And, just because I think it's worthy of mentioning, the wall-mounted hand soap to the left of our sink was sent to us by a friend that lives in Paris. We have not been able to find them here in the States.
The vintage stove is a 38" wide Roper which was purchased off of Craigslist. (JDDAR - I agree with your comment on the stove - although the placement has worked well for us. It is really the only place we could put a range without having to do a cooktop on the peninsula. We wanted to make the peninsula counter space as uninterrupted as possible and having such a large amount of space across from the range compensates for the lack of counter space surrounding the range).
Again - thanks for all lovely comments.
Let me know if you need anymore information.
So lovely! It's a really beautiful space. What coffee grinder is that?
Olivia
Those cabinets are a prize. Great job!
The coffee grinder is a Kitchenaid Burr grinder (pro line series). I love it. I have had it for about four years and it works great.
you did an amazing job w/ the renovation! love it!
thank you for the info on the grinder. I am growing increasingly tired of my hand grinder!
This is a beauty! Thank you for sharing it with us, Renee!
