Flowers at farmers markets - the best part. We should be looking for the artisanal cheese and very local carrots, but the flowers always get us first. The farmers market in Charlottesville, Virginia, was brilliant in this regard last weekend. There were bunches of wildflowers and zinnias in jam jars, casually arranged to catch the vivid autumn light, and rust-red mums in planter pots.
There was more, of course - piles of good fruits and vegetables; we've already mentioned the unabashedly local apples, too. This is a great market, with diversity of color and a lot of variety - check out the photos!
