Red Wine Caramel Apples and Sweet Potato Gnocchi

Gourmet October 2009

We love seeing Ruth Reichl's ten favorite recipes in each issue of Gourmet, and this month's were particularly enticing. They all seem to be saying: Welcome fall! Here are three we just bookmarked to try.

Red Wine Caramel Apples - We usually don't like candy apples very much, but the introduction of red wine into the caramel is intriguing here. We might have to try it with miniature lady apples!

Sweet Potato Gnocchi with Fried Sage and Shaved Chestnuts - This looks utterly right for fall! Two of our favorite foods are included: fried sage, and tender sweet potatoes.

Slow-Cooked Tomato and Herb White Beans - These soupy beans, fragrant with herbs and fresh garden tomatoes are on the to-make list this very weekend.

Yum yum! It is definitely time for autumn food, and we're quite pleased about that. Have you seen any autumn recipes from Gourmet (or any other food publication) that you're planning to try this weekend?
