We love seeing Ruth Reichl's ten favorite recipes in each issue of Gourmet, and this month's were particularly enticing. They all seem to be saying: Welcome fall! Here are three we just bookmarked to try.
• Red Wine Caramel Apples - We usually don't like candy apples very much, but the introduction of red wine into the caramel is intriguing here. We might have to try it with miniature lady apples!
• Sweet Potato Gnocchi with Fried Sage and Shaved Chestnuts - This looks utterly right for fall! Two of our favorite foods are included: fried sage, and tender sweet potatoes.
• Slow-Cooked Tomato and Herb White Beans - These soupy beans, fragrant with herbs and fresh garden tomatoes are on the to-make list this very weekend.
• See the whole list: Ruth's Favorite October Recipes
Yum yum! It is definitely time for autumn food, and we're quite pleased about that. Have you seen any autumn recipes from Gourmet (or any other food publication) that you're planning to try this weekend?

That gnocchi looks fantastic. I'll have to save it for when it actually gets cooler around here! (It's still hovering around 100.)
Ah yes, those gnocchi are calling my name. I bet they'd be amazing with a blue cheese sauce of some sort. Mmmm.

It's actually Spring here now, and slowly starting to warm up (Melbourne, still cool some days), but I don't care - this little sweet potato addict is trying those gnocchi anyway - yum!
