Red-and-Pink-Stripe...

Red Velvet (cake) fried chicken? No thanks. I am the only one who thinks Red Velvet cake is hideous? I can taste the food coloring; a whole bottle of the stuff is in the cake, and it's bitter. I can't imagine coating my chicken in red food coloring.
But chocolate pancakes---that's a whole 'nother thing!
@SunnyBlue: No you are not the only one. I cab't stand red velvet cake. I also think the plethora recipes trying to achieve the red velvet color without the chemicals tells you that there are many more people just like you and me.
I agree with above posts on red velvet cake. I've only had one slice that was good in my life, and that being from the salsbury house, a restaraunt that hasn't brought it's chain the the U.S yet
I'm from the South and a cake maker and flat out don't get red velvet. It's not vanilla or chocolate and tastes very bland to me and I just don't see the appeal.
I'm all over those chocolate pancakes!
I love the flavor of red velvet cake but could do without all the coloring. I've always described it as a mild and moist chocolate cake with a bit of a tang. I'm not a fan of regular chocolate or devil's food cakes because they're too heavy/rich for me so it's a nice balance.
