Recycline Preserve Plateware

Picnic season demands disposable plates - it's hard to find a way around this. Recycline offers a greener way to manage backyard picnics and grill-outs with their Preserve Plateware.

The plates are made from recycled Stoneyfield Farm yogurt containers, and they can be recycled again in communities that accept #5 plastic. Plus they are durable enough for multiple uses and even for the dishwasher.

These can be found in 10" dinner plates and 7" salad plates. $4.75-$7.50 for a pack of 8 at Greenfeet.

That's a really cool idea, and I'm glad to hear that all those Stonyfield Farm cups aren't going to waste!

I use their recycled forks/knives/spoons, and wash them up for the next picnic. I LOVE that someone has put the usually unrecycled #5 yog containers to good use.

Preserve gets the Stonyfield Farm cups that are unusuable direct from Stonyfield, not the post-consumer ones. Unless YOU recycle them, of course. There's an outdoor drop off for #5 yogurt containers at the Park Slope Food Coop in Brooklyn three times a month. Start one in your community!

Why are they considered unrecyclable containers?
In Montreal we allow every all plastic items in the recycle bins, including plastic bags etc.
