What are you cooking this weekend? Are you celebrating Passover? Or Easter, perhaps? Tell us what you're cooking to celebrate spring and the spring holidays, and, since at least one reader has written to ask us about what to cook for an Easter brunch, here's a roundup of some splendid recipes for Sunday morning.
Lisbeth wrote to us saying,
I need dessert help! Since the weather this weekend is going to be gorgeous in NYC, my family has opted for a Picnic Easter outside somewhere, instead of a cooped up Formal Easter. We are five adults and one 2 and a half year old, and I'd like to make something springy, portable and festive for dessert.... but I'm stumped! Any help?
Well, Lis, try a recipe from this list, and maybe our readers will have some good advice for you too! We've marked the desserts below that we think would be most portable for an Easter picnic — what a lovely prospect, by the way!

Mm, gorgeous looking food! I made an amazing batch of pancakes this morning. Hopefully the weekend will be full of more delicious eats.

Mmm, so many great ideas.
Yesterday I managed to make coconut macaroons and they parted happily from the baking sheet. (Second ever attempt, first an unqualified disaster.) Smells like summer. That's my sugar rush sorted for the long bank holiday.
Today I'm making the leek, lemon and goat's cheese frittata linked above (got hold of some delicious hard Yorkshire goat's cheese I think ought to work). Tonight, salmon steaks w/ dill sauce. Tomorrow, family lunch = lemon and tarragon chicken, buttermilk onion pull-apart rolls and the last of the Red Pippins in an apple crumble.
Happy Easter, all!
Friday I made chicken soup and some wonderful, fluffy hot cross buns. The remaining dough is rising for breakfast this morning.
Today I'll be making 2-3 batches of overnight refrigerator roll dough, as I was requested to bring those to the family gathering. I need to bring green beans as well so need to decide what to do with those.
I've been craving those lemon rolls since I saw the recipe and if I have time I might do some for Easter breakfast.
Cut out cookies with the kids today!
I am making those lemon rolls today. I can't stop thinking about them! If they turn out well, I'll take them out to share with my family tomorrow, if only to keep myself from eating them all and getting sick.
I'm also making broccoli and feta calzones for dinner.
Tofu benny, lemon cupcakes, chocolate truffle eggs for the hunt!
I'm getting ready to eat gnocchi spiced with summer tomato and garlic...but I have to wait until Tuesday, when I have my first post-Passover fix - I was going to make it myself but I'm ordering from Choice Cooking Company - Chef Ryan Brown is throwing in a free buttermilk and honey souflee through April 13th. Check it out: www.choicecooking.com
Today I made banana muffins and my first batch of no knead bread dough. I guess I will find out tomorrow how it turns out.
Tomorrow, a spanish tortilla, asparagus, salad and fresh bread. Perhaps strawberries with whipped cream for desert.
I am also pondering a batch of zucchini muffins, but I think this is an avoidance tactic to get out of cleaning the fish tank.
it's easy to share the lemon rolls as they are SOOOO sweet!!! 1 is enough!
They were actually quite a bit lighter than I expected. I use brown sugar instead of white and I undermeasure, so I found the sweetness fairly balanced. One of my aunts declared them 'nice and tart' and had an extra half serving.
I can't wait to try those lemon rolls.
My dinner roll baking went smoothly this morning so I decided I had just enough time for a batch of hot cross buns. I literally took them out of the oven and loaded them right into the van. I've been tweaking the recipe and they were a huge hit.
Question: earlier in the week I left a pan of water in the oven while the buns were baking. I thought steam was supposed to result in a firmer crust, but these were the tenderest rolls I've ever made. Maybe it was just coincidence due to the tweaks I made, but today's batch turned out just as good.
Newly married, I spent Saturday with my family and Sunday with his.... For Saturday, I made a Chorizo and Cheese Crostini for appetizers on Saturday using all local ingredients (actually from my CSA, with the exception of the DiBruno Bros bread loaf, a Philadelphia staple). Sunday, I made a bread pudding with the left over loaf, recipe from Paula Deen. Delicious!
